Mild Winter Plus Rain Means More Pests!

Tuesday, March 26th, 2019

Hi everyone, it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything. I wanted to let everyone know what I see for this spring. With the mild winter and abundant rain the conditions are very favorable for a major population explosion. When we have these conditions and increased populations the pest pressure is greatly increased.

You can minimize the pest problems around your house by removing any areas the pests can use as harborages near the house. Items such as firewood stacked next to the house, pet housing and bedding next to the house and so forth will help to minimize the pests that enter the house. Hope everyone has a Blessed spring.

A Mild Winter Means More Bugs

Tuesday, February 21st, 2017

As spring approaches and the weather warms up, the pest populations start to emerge. The South Texas “rollercoaster” weather is easy on the critters that have to survive outside.

We can easily see temperatures swing from hard freezes to very moderate in the span of a week. As a result of this moderate winter weather, the various pests can survive by hiding under rocks, in leaf mulch and even under low lying vegetation.

As in all home maintenance, the best time to address a problem is before there is a problem. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound cure.
